Viz was founded in 1986 as a branch of Shueisha. Its first title would be released one year later it was not until the late 1990's that Viz would become a large publisher bringing manga to America and Europe.

In 2007 Viz won the award for Manga Publisher of the Year.

Translating manga such as Naruto and Dragon Ball(Z), Viz is bringing manga to the western world.
