"Metal Hurlant" Le Garage Hermétique de Jerry Cornélius
A long sequence of 36 short comic stories that were told across most of the 1970's issues of Metal Hurlant (and then translated into many languages including the early Heavy Metal Magazine). The original work was in black-and-white but it was colored for American audiences in the late 80's.
