The Analog Man is set in a not-too-distant post-apocalyptic future, Bloodshot & Magic have found a quiet life in a village out in the desert. Food and water supply is scarce and Bloodshot has to do water runs every now and then. These runs see him drive through the desert that is controlled by the Shadowmen and fill a huge tank near the walls of Future-L.A., a dystopian city where the rich and wealthy people live. The city is controlled by X-O sentries and some A.I. of sorts called "Goo Tech."

While Bloodshot, a.k.a. the Analog Man, tries to live a normal life disguising himself as an old man, these water runs always have him switch back into Bloodshot. While the nanites that run through his body seem to be outdated and inferior to the more advanced Goo-Tech, he has managed to use them for cloaking an entire truck thus making it invisible for the X-O sentries as there is no other way to get to the water supplies of Future-L.A. otherwise.
