Amarans are a highly technical alien space-faring race. While they appear like humanoid rabbits with purple fur, they are cold-blooded and lay large clutches of eggs. On average, they are small (about 4.5 feet tall), lean, and not very strong or durable. They are vegetarians. Due to a long history as a prey species, they are very nervous and suspicious of others, almost to paranoia. Even after they become friends with someone, Amarans will be a bit uncertain if that person is a carnivore or omnivore. They also have a very high reproductive rate due to their prey history, but thanks to increasingly advanced defensive technology their families tend to be VERY large and extensive. Luckily they are quite sociable among themselves and one family branch will gladly help another branch with child-rearing.

During the reign of the Dynasty of the Stars, Amarans were treated as a sacrificial race and sent to the soul furnaces by the millions. Afterwards, the Amarans came to Earth a millennia ago in a city-ship as part of a joint colonization with Kryn and Atlantian city-ships. The Amaran ship was was severely damaged when it entered Earth's atmosphere and eventually crashed in the Antarctic. All of the Amarans onboard escaped and returned home except for 2, Jan and Rol. They survived using the hibernation pods until they awoke in the late 20th century.

Amaran technology is ultimately derived from Gardener and Dynasty Symbiots and includes:

  • phase units, wristbands that render the wearer intangible
  • work-bots equipped with various deadly weaponry and explosives
  • predator-predator suits, powerful sets of exoskeletal powered armor
