House Baratheon would emerge in House Targaryen's conquest of Westeros into a single realm, headed by Aegon the Conqueror and his closest friend and half-brother Orys Baratheon, who served as one of his generals, defeated the last Storm King, and wed his daughter, continuing the line of Durran Godsgrief, the builder of Storm's End.

Raymont Baratheon would join the Kingsguard of Aenys Targaryen, saving his life from an attack by the Poor Fellows in the Faith Militant uprising against the inbreeding Valyrian tradition of the Targaryens.
