The Divine Guard are the elite warriors of New Genesis and serve as the personal guard of Highfather. They followed Izaya during his search for the Life Equation for use against Darkseid. A number of guardsmen were deployed by the Source Wall with Orion to watch over Metron. These Divine Guard later battled the Green Lantern Corps led by Hal Jordan who were massacred by the New God warriors. Afterwards, they returned with Orion to New Genesis where a large army from the forces of New Genesis gathered for war against the Multiverse.
