The Imskians first appeared in the pages of Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #234, (December, 1977).

History

Imskians are the inhabitants of the planet Imsk located in the Milky Way. The planets special attribute to shrink has since made its residents to have the ability to shrink. Their race didn't originate on Imsk, but were descendants of a Krill Colony. They arrived on Imsk almost a million years ago. Imskians are members of the United Planets in the 31st century.

There have been a few members of the race of Imskians who have special notoriety. The member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Shrinking Violet is one and the most famed. Although born on Earth her parents returned to Imsk and she was raced there. Another is Micro Lad who had at one time been rejected from the Legion tryouts. He would soon become a criminal and joined both the Legion of Super-Heroes and a separatist group on Imsk calling itself the Ismkian Liberation Front.

Major Story Arcs

Original Continuity: New Earth

The Legion would interrupt a takeover of the Imskian government by the Imskian Liberation Front. The Durlan actress Yera had taken over the guise of Shrinking Violet and infiltrated the LSH under the direction of the ILF. For the most part of the year Yera as Violet kept up appearances. Unknown to Yera the ILF had been keeping Violet in a Sens Tank the whole time obtaining knowledge from her mind about the Legion. With a small group of Legionnaires keeping the discovery of imposter under wraps the small group traveled to Imsk, Yera and Colosal Boy unaware of the plot ahead. Once the team used Cancilte to reveal Yera’s guise they were able to convince her to take them to her contacts on Imsk. Making an appearance as Shrinking Violet at the Kanga Centre shopping district on Imsk, contact was made with Marlu a member of ILF. Taken to the Imskian Liberation Front Headquarters the Legion was finally able to find Violet and free her. At the same time destroying the ILF headquarters and having the group arrested by the Science Police.

Post Zero-Hour

The origins of both Shrinking Violet and Micro-Lad briefly appeared on another storyline in which Legion tryout in the Pre-Boot universe. Three native Imskians were the last contestants to represent Imsk as the convey to the United Planets and the Legion of Super-Heroes. This would consist of Shrinking Violet, Micro lad, and Ion. Ion was however murdered by Micro Lad and his ruthless actions to win the competition were discovered by Shrinking Violet. Violet would go on to represent Imsk as a Legionnaire.

Powers and Abilities

All Imskians and their descendants have the natural ability to shrink down to a diminutive size, some even attaining sub-molecular in size.

Notable Imskians

Shrinking Violet: Member of the galaxy renown group of superhuman youths the Legion of Super-Heroes, Shrinking Violet was one of the Legions first recruits.

Micro-Lad (Micro): Once a competitor in becoming Imsk's first representative to the United Planets and the Legion of Super-Heroes, instead becoming a petty murderous criminal and terrorist group of radical Ismkians.

Ion: One of three finalists in the race to become the first Imskian to join the Legion of super-Heroes however being instead murdered by her competitor Micro-Lad.
