Origin

The Newsboy Army was originally founded by a group of six children and one dog, sworn to work together for the betterment of mankind.

Creation

The Newsboy Army was created by Grant Morrison and Cameron Stewart. The first incarnation of the team made their first appearance in Seven Soldiers: Guardian #4. The second incarnation of the team made their first appearance in Seven Soldiers: Guardian #1. They are loosely based on the Newsboy Legion.

Team Evolution

In their first incarnation the team consists of Ali-Ka-Zoom, Baby Brain, the Captain, Chop Suzi, Kid Scarface, Little Miss Hollywood, and Millions the Mystery Mutt. The second incarnation is a loosely-affiliated group of investigators and roving reporters.

Major Story Arcs

Seven Soldiers of Victory

The seven original members of the Army go on several fantastical adventures together. On their final adventure they encounter the rogue Time Tailor Zor, who corrupts their character arcs, causing the team to fall apart amidst scandal and death. Some time later a new version of the Army was reconstituted by founding member Baby Brain; now going by Ed Stargard, he uses this incarnation as a team of reporters for his newspaper The Manhattan Guardian. Members of the team support the Guardian during his various crime-fighting missions, and later report on the Sheeda invasion of New York.
