Origin

A bid on the part of the United Planets to create a new Legion like team they could control, they recruited several young recent Legion of Super-Heroes tryout rejects to form the team. However shortly after its creation the team proved to be mostly a failure, having to be rescued by the Legion of Super Heroes itself. Although this near failure debit of the team of the U.P.Y.H did not stop the United Planets from continuing its attempt to recruit super powered teenagers for the future membership of the team expansion.

Creation

The United Planets Young Heroes also know as the U.P.Y.H was created by DC Comics and made its first appearance in the series Legion of Super-Heroes #41: Enemy Rising, Part Two: Busted! This U.P.Y.H was part of the Earth Prime (threeboot) continuity. The collaboration of Jim Shooter and Aaron Lopresti created the team.
