The Zelkots have been at war with the Volkirs for over a thousand years. At one time the both groups were of the same race until they separated because of a civil war. The Zelkots were seeking out Superman and the Flash to end the perpetual war with the Volkirs. The Zelkots stated that they helped in controlling the unstable core of Krypton which allowed Krypton to survive as a planet for several more centuries.
