Origin

Based out of their own castle, Toff Towers, the Toffs were spoiled rich kids who frequently tried to torment the rival "Toughs", only to come a cropper, either through the Toughs' ingenuity, the stupidity of the Toffs' sycophantic servants, or just plain karma. The trio were Montmorency Moneybags, Lancelot Lolly and Milly O'Naire (the latter presumably not the same spoiled rich girl Milly O'Naire who conflicted regularly with Penny Less in Jackpot, despite the identical names).

Creation

The Toffs and the Toughs were a mix of the "rival kid gangs" (for example, Swots vs Blots or Dolls vs Tiddlers) combined with the rich kid vs. poor kid meme (such as Penny Less and Milly O'Naire or Ivor Lott and Tony Broke) seen in various titles. Their conflict, drawn by Joe McCaffrey, ran throughout the entire run of Knockout.
