Concept and Creation
Originally, Jim Valentino wanted to call his new superhero team The Protectors. Unfortunately, Malibu Comics already had a group with that name. Then Valentino came up with another name called The Galactic Legion, but for some odd reason that didn't work out. The Alliance was originally intended to have all the Image Comics superheroes from each of the founders together, but never panned out. Eventually, Valentino channeled his creativity from his success from Guardians of the Galaxy at Marvel Comics in 1990 into something new.
