Overview

The SCP Foundation is a secretive organization dedicated to containing and studying anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena that defy the natural laws of reality. The organization's origins are shrouded in mystery, but it is believed to have been established sometime in the early 20th century, though some of its records suggest involvement in anomalous activities dating back much further.

The Foundation operates under the strict mandate of **"Secure, Contain, Protect."** Its primary objective is to locate and secure these anomalies, referred to as SCPs, from around the world. Once secured, these SCPs are brought to one of the many containment sites—heavily fortified and concealed facilities designed to house these entities under controlled conditions. The containment procedures are meticulously documented, ensuring that each SCP is kept in an environment that neutralizes or mitigates its potential threat. The Foundation employs a vast network of researchers, scientists, and field agents who study these anomalies, seeking to understand their origins, powers, and, when possible, how to neutralize their effects.

The Foundation's archives are filled with thousands of SCP entries, each with its own unique number, and an extensive report detailing its properties, containment protocols, and any relevant incident logs. These entries range from objects that exhibit minor, bizarre effects to entities capable of causing catastrophic destruction on a global scale. Notable examples include SCP-173, a statue that moves and attacks when not observed, and SCP-682, a highly intelligent and virtually indestructible reptilian entity with a deep hatred for all life.

The SCP Foundation operates under extreme secrecy, with its existence known only to a select few governments and allied organizations. The general public remains unaware of the Foundation's activities, as the organization goes to great lengths to suppress information about the anomalies, using cover stories, amnestic agents, and media manipulation to maintain its veil of secrecy. The Foundation is also known to collaborate with or, when necessary, confront other secretive groups and organizations that possess or seek to exploit similar anomalies.

Over the years, the SCP Foundation has encountered numerous challenges, from containment breaches that have resulted in widespread devastation to internal threats posed by rogue elements within its ranks. Despite these dangers, the Foundation remains steadfast in its mission, driven by the belief that the anomalies it contains represent a significant threat to human civilization if left unchecked. The organization's work is ongoing, as new SCPs are discovered regularly, each one presenting a new puzzle for the Foundation's researchers and a new threat that must be contained.

The SCP Foundation's legacy is one of relentless vigilance, a shadow organization that stands as the first and last line of defense against the unknown, the unexplained, and the unimaginable.

Notable SCP Anomalies

Several SCP creatures are well-known within the Foundation itself and to "those who know", each with unique and often terrifying characteristics. Here are a few of the most famous ones:

SCP-173 ("The Sculpture")

Description: SCP-173 is a humanoid statue made of rebar, concrete, and Krylon spray paint. It remains motionless while in direct line of sight, but when unobserved, it moves at incredibly high speeds and attacks by snapping the necks of its victims. The object is highly dangerous, and its containment requires at least three personnel to maintain visual contact at all times.

SCP-096 ("The Shy Guy")

SCP-096 is a humanoid creature that is normally docile but becomes extremely agitated and violent when someone views its face, even in photographs or videos. Once its face is seen, SCP-096 will enter an emotional distress state and attempt to kill the person who saw it, regardless of distance, pursuing them until they are dead. Afterward, it will return to its docile state.

SCP-682 ("Hard-to-Destroy Reptile")

SCP-682 is a large, intelligent, and incredibly hostile reptilian creature. It possesses a profound hatred for all life and has shown an extraordinary ability to adapt to and survive numerous termination attempts. SCP-682 can regenerate from almost any injury, making it one of the most difficult SCPs to contain and terminate.

SCP-049 ("The Plague Doctor")

Description: SCP-049 is a humanoid entity resembling a medieval plague doctor, complete with robes and a mask. It believes itself to be a physician capable of curing what it calls "The Pestilence," a disease it claims to detect in individuals. SCP-049 will attempt to "cure" those it perceives as infected by performing a fatal surgical procedure. Afterward, it reanimates the bodies into mindless zombies under its control.

SCP-106 ("The Old Man")

Description: SCP-106 appears as an elderly humanoid with a corroded appearance. It can pass through solid matter, causing everything it touches to decay rapidly. SCP-106 is extremely dangerous, capable of trapping its victims in a "pocket dimension" where it subjects them to prolonged torture before finally killing them. It is one of the most feared SCPs due to its ability to breach containment easily.

SCP-3008 ("A Perfectly Normal, Regular Old IKEA")

Description: SCP-3008 is an anomalous IKEA retail store that appears normal from the outside but contains an infinite, labyrinthine interior filled with bizarre and dangerous entities known as "The Staff," which resemble IKEA employees but are hostile to humans. Those who enter SCP-3008 find themselves trapped inside, struggling to survive while searching for an exit.

SCP-999 ("The Tickle Monster")

Description: SCP-999 is a friendly and harmless gelatinous mass of orange slime that emits a scent that causes a feeling of happiness. It is extremely affectionate, often seeking physical contact with people and animals, and has a positive effect on those suffering from mental health issues. SCP-999 is one of the few benevolent SCPs and is cherished by Foundation staff.

SCP-1981 ("Ronald Reagan Cut Up While Talking")

SCP-1981 is a Betamax tape labeled "RONALD REGAN CUT UP WHILE TALKING," containing a recording of Ronald Reagan giving a speech. However, as the tape progresses, Reagan's speech deviates from the known speech, including references to dark and disturbing topics, while Reagan's body appears to suffer increasingly severe injuries. Each viewing of the tape yields a different set of injuries and dialogue.

These SCPs are just a few examples of the vast and varied catalog of anomalies contained by the SCP Foundation. Each one presents unique challenges and dangers, contributing to the complex and often terrifying world of the SCP universe.
