According to the Lovecraftian Mythos, the shoggoths were a servitor race created billions of years ago by what are called "The Elder Things". The shoggoths appear as giagantic black polymorphous masses that move like freight trains and are usually heard coming by the eerie piping cry "Tekeli-li" . They are first featured in the Lovecraft tale "At the Mountains of Madness" and have been a mainstay in the Conan the Barbarian comics.
