The Drenx are a violent and barbaric species, who come to planets seeking "tithing" in the form of deaths and destruction. They go into negotiations with S.W.O.R.D. - and are effectively stalled for awhile. Regrettably, co-director Gyrich enacted his plan to get all aliens off of Earth, effectively ruining negotiations. While understaffed trying to apprehend so many aliens, S.W.O.R.D. is taken over by the Drenx. The Drenx used the help of Unit, a psychotic android, and promised him his freedom in exchange for his advice. Seemingly given a fool proof plan, The Peak is taken over. Brand and Beast, however, manage to break back in and take back control. Unit had in fact betrayed the Drenx, seeing being with S.W.O.R.D. as a better option for his goals, and had given Brand and Beast a heads up. The Drenx are stopped and sent packing, being given a warning that Earth was well defended from powerful beings like Beta Ray Bill.
