The Faltine are being composed of pure mystic energy. Certain Faltine have the ability to shift into a physical form (such as Dormammu, and his sister Umar) while most did not. After Umar gave birth to Clea, she found herself unable to change from her physical form to her Faltine form again. Clea is half Faltine and therefore naturally gifted in the use of magic, but unable to shift forms.
