Jawas are a native specie from planet Tatooine. 
 
They're descendants of the Kumumgah, species that lived there long before the planet was a desert.
 
Their language is Jawaese. It's a difficult language to understand to its extremely high speech rate.      

Their scavengers by nature and see foreigners as an opportunity for business.

They have yellow eyes and they always dress in brown robes. 
 
Their average height is 1 meter and they can live around 80 years.  
 
Jawas live in separate clan families and in fortresses  with high walls to protect themselves of dangers like sand storms or Sand People. 
 
Once a year they meet in the Dune sea for a swap of pieces and other merchandising.

Akial is the only known Jawa that became Jedi knight.
