Second Assembly
A splinter movement from the Dry Academy who believe that knowledge can be transferred by foodstuffs.
Creation
Second Assembly was created by Warren Ellis and Leonardo Manco.
The Second Assembly is a splinter group of occult fundamentalists to the Dry Academy, one of varied small false religions dedicated for prevalence and are twisted dark sorcerers dedicated in cannibalizing people and corpses in an effort to claim their essences or wisdom as a consumptive process. It is processed that they control the world through a world-spell that prevents the rest of the world from seeing the "real" world for what horrific truth it is.
The Second Assembly would come to be enemies of Doctor Druid in his revival from a false death and return to New York City as a faith healer and practicing Druid cleric by choice. With the aid of tenant mage Hemingway, Druid would come to assist Nekra Sinclair in her priestess role in the Cult of Kali to ask Druid to retrieve the stolen corpses of maniacs, geniuses and various bodied essences from the Second Academy who used them to gestate and form their False God in an effort to create a dominant divinity to their twisted faith. Druid would locate the Second Assembly through a vacated Salvation Army facility to kill the followers before confronting and eliminating the False God after the being attempted to coerce and deceive Druid through a series of false tales including Smoke Generals.
Upon Druid's return to his apartment would he lose his powers under a taboo for a love for the witch Nekra, effects that would have him sacrifice Hemingway to retrieve them, then later banish his other flat tenants- Baby Icon, a seer presumed insane who fled on free will, and the insane murderess Redeyes to her delusions of love after murdering 18 men who claimed love her and was later sent to purgatory by a spell through Druid. Learning of a double cross by Nekra after killing a Smoke General assassin in his apartment would Druid assert to confront the Dry Academy to their own holy grounds and revoke the illusionary spells that beautified reality into the horrifically truthful nightmare the real world genuinely was. The shock of lifting the world-spell nearly traumatized Druid as well as select ESP sensitive denizens the world over but for a moment. The Satanic sorcerer Hellstorm would later appear to Druid in a final confrontation to inform him that he and Nekra had used Druid in a test to determine his power and capacities as a threat in the magical sense. Tricking Druid into battle with a fake Dry Academy to battle, Hellstorm eliminated Druid with a Breathing Gun- a magical gun capable of killing demons and persons of select magical abilities- under the assumption of Hellstorm that Druid was a religious maniac and fundamentalist himself capable of destroying the balance of the real world.
It remains unclear if The Dry Academy still exists in secret and at large as an underworld faith known to select few or if it was a false trap manifested with the followers of Hellstorm in an effort to test the threat level of Druid before his execution. The mystical powers and the number of members of to the Dry Academy and the Second Assembly remain inconclusive since the cult surrendered with its members slain by Druid.
