Commander Stargazer, retired bionic policeman, recruits members for his team "Silverhawks" who are "partly metal, partly real" in an attempt to recapture escaped alien mob boss Mon*Star. Mon*Star can transform itself into a gigantic metal beast along with his henchmen: serpentine Yes-man, angry lumberjack robot BuzzSaw, the minotuar Mumbo Jumbo, shapeshifter Mo-Lec-U-Lar, robotic card dealer Pokerface, War-Machine-like Hardware, and let's not forget the "musical madness" of Melodia.

Launching from their space station base in the Limbo Galaxy (featuring a completely livable space environment, complete with breathable oxygen atmosphere), Hawk Haven five days a week for one season, the Silverhwaks kept the universe safe from evil. At the end of each episode, a "real fact" about the actual universe was given, thus distancing the fictitious from the factual and giving the show and subsequently the comic a more "all ages" feel.
