After a battle between Iron Man and Doctor Doom destroyed an ancient weapon called the "Infinity Sword", the Superhero Squad was formed to recover the fragments, known as "Infinity Fractals", and keep Doctor Doom and his forces from rebuilding it. While the team is made up of Iron Man, Wolverine, Thor, Falcon, Hulk, Silver Surfer and Reptil, they are frequently aided by other super heroes from the Marvel Universe. The Squad is sanctioned by S.H.I.E.L.D., who allow them to use their Hellicarrier as a base of operations, where they are overseen by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Captain America and Ms. Marvel.
