Origin

The Assembly was a group of children that were determined by Gremlin to have high potential. They were taken by Hydra to be trained and experimented on to become a beloved superhero team (resembling sidekicks of many well-known superheroes) and represent a Hydra new world order. The first roster was sent into the field in San Francisco, led by Gremlin posing as Titan (resembling a sidekick of the Hulk). Each member had false memories implanted to override the trauma of the experiments and make them completely believe in Hydra's cover stories. After they had a run-in with Spider-Woman, she helped reveal the truth to them, so that they could defect from Hydra.

Creation

The Assembly debuts in Web of Spider-Man (2024) one shot in a short story by Steve Foxe and Ig Guara as a tease for their Spider-Woman series. The team consists of characters created for a line of "New Champions" variant covers published in October 2023
