Origin

Tutor was once a curious man with many ideas. His interests were mainly about human nature, social dynamics, and hierarchies. He liked cults and MLMs and saw vampirism as a way to progress the evolution of mankind instead of as a parasitic infection. This got the attention of Lady Yulan, a centuries old Chinese vampire who had set up shop in Chinatown, Manhattan. He eventually stole the blood of one of Lady Yulan's brides and infected himself, so that he could start his rival vampire cult, The Structure.

Creation

Tutor was created by Jed MacKay and Frederico Sabbatini in Moon Knight (2021) #16

Major Story Arc

Midnight Mission

Tutor started keeping tabs on Moon Knight after he liberated a number of his sires, including Reese, who took a job with Moon Knight at his new congregation, The Midnight Mission. He would start to attack them after learning that Reese turned Soldier, another member of the Midnight Mission, and saw them as rivals to his own vampire recruitment.He hired superhuman hitmen, Grand Mal and Nemean to take Moon Knight and his friends out.

Unfortunate for Tutor, his hire guns were no match for Moon Knight. He dropped them through the skylight of an event hall during Tutor's meeting of the vampires. After rigging the fire suppression system to go off, Moon Knight consecrate the water, making it holy, and took out The Structure. Tutor made one last ditch effort to offer his services to Moon Knight, but Moon Knight was uninterested. So, he killed Tutor.

Marc left one familiar alive to send a message back to Dracula to keep vampires out of Manhattan.

Blood Hunt

While possessing the body of Blade, Varnae took leadership of The Structure and conceived a new plan for world domination.

• He used Atlantean magic to turn darkforce users on Earth into portals for darkforce energy, blocking out the sun
• He sent their super soldiers, The Bloodcoven, to take out the Avengers, who easily fell into the trap by trusting Blade.
• He transformed Doctor Strange into a vampire to discourage either he or his true love, Clea, from researching the Montessi Formula.
• He sired Black Panther to locate a secret temple in Wakanda
• He sired Miles Morales to track down Blade's daughter, Bloodline, who was capable of hurting Blade.

Varnae underestimated the tenacity of Blade's hero friends. Iron Man hacked into the full FCC network and broadcast a message from Captain America (Sam Wilson) inspiring humanity to stand up to the vampires. Angry, Blade moved up his time table and landed the Temple of the First Blasphemy in New York. There, he combined Thor's blood with Wanda's magic to give him dominion over all the darkforce. Unfortunately, the Avengers had regrouped, including Khonshu who was freed from his Asgardian prison.

While Khonshu's army of mummified Moon Knight took on vampires across the world, the re-assembled Avengers took on the Bloodcoven. This allowed Bri to get close to her father and slay him. She stabbed him in the chest with her sword, but Varnae had channeled so much darkforce energy, he could withstand Bri's connection to his vessel. So, Miles grabbed Bri's sword, since he was now part of Varnae's bloodline. Their combined might forced Varnae's astral form to leave Blade. Meanwhile, Strange's disembodied astral form worked with Doctor Doom to cast a counterspell ending the endless night.

Even though the heroes were victorious, the vampire race were granted a new ability to walk in daylight
