The Tracksuit Mafia formed as a typical organized criminal gang, consisting primarily of presumably Eastern European and Russian members based in and around New York City.
Creation
The Tracksuit Mafia was created by Matt Fraction and David Aja. They made their first appearance in Hawkeye #1.
Major Story Arcs
Hawkeye
The leaders of the Mafia order one of their members, Ivan Banionis, to increase the rent on his building so that all of his tenants will be forced to leave. This plan is interrupted by Hawkeye, who buys the building himself. They repeatedly clash with the hero, ultimately staging an assault on his building and hiring the mysterious assassin Kazimierz Kazimierczak to kill Hawkeye in order to clear the property for one of their associates who is seeking to build a mall there. They are repelled and defeated by the hero and the inhabitants of the building.
