Creation

The Retarded Lizards were created by writer John Ney Rieber and artist Peter Snejbjerg in The Books of Magic issue 15 in 1995.

Major Story Arcs

The Retarded Lizards are a group of demons in the shape of pink T. rexes who work for the demon Barbatos. He sends them to kidnap Khara and Nikki. They grow out of a swingset, and then chase their targets.

They call out as they look for them, with silly childish sing-song language. Khara and Nikki magically disguise themselves as garbage cans, tricking the Lizards, but Barbatos shows up and figures out the ruse. Khara and Nikki are captured and sent to Barbatos's future.

He next sends them after Molly. Molly finds a weird giant dollhouse in an abandoned lot. While checking it out, she gets stuck inside and the Lizards take her away to Hell with them.

While cleaning up the dolls, one of the Lizards also comes upon Tim's creation Crimple, and brings him along too.

In Hell, the Lizards force Molly to sit through a tea party and try to brainwash her into becoming a bimbo, but she stands her ground. Then Vuall the governess shows up and really starts trying to brainwash Molly into submission. The Lizards continue to act as her aides. Eventually Molly and Crimple manage to successfully rebel against Vuall, and Tim Hunter finds her, but the Lizards have left by then.

The Lizards are now guarding the lecture stage on which Barbatos is trying to convince a bunch of demons about his plans to take over the world through mass production of Happy Crisps junk food. They try to warn Barbatos that love has broken out in Hell--between Tim and Molly--but they are too late.

Tim, Molly, and other allies defeat Barbatos and the Lizards presumably run off.
