Soviet Partisan forces were members of resistance fighters utilizing guerilla tactics to resist NAZI Germany's invasion of Russia. They formed in mid-1941 after Operation Barbarossa, and consisted mainly of civilians, NKVD volunteers and Jewish resistance. They played a pivotal role in the war and their efforts helped the Red Army considerably.
