The Saiyans, also known as Saiyajins are a proud warrior race who shared Planet Plant with the Tsufurujins, because their original planet of Sadala was destroyed. The Saiyans love to fight, and have a sixth sense for fighting. The alien race comes from a world with ten times earth's gravity. Making the Saiyan race more stronger, durable, and faster. The Saiyans attacked the Tuffles, which started a civil war. Using their ability to transform at a full moon the Saiyajins over powered the Tsufurujins and gained control over the planet. The Saiyajins made one of them, named Vegeta, king of the planet and reanamed the planet as Planet Vegeta.

The Saiyajins soon went into business taking over other planets and selling them. Soon Freeza, an evil alien warrior, feared the Saiyjins potential and destroyed their home word killing their whole race except for four of them. The remaining four were Goku, Vegeta, Raditz, and Nappa. (There were also more survivors; four more Saiyajins named Turles, Paragus, Broly, and Tarble; and two Tsufurujins named Baby and Dr.Raichii).

Later on, Half-Saiyajins were born on Earth. Gohan was the first but he was soon followed by Trunks and then Goten.

Transformations

Great Ape - Every Saiyan with a tail is capable of this transformation. When they look into the full moon they transform in a large ape like creature which drastically increases their strength and durability while losing all sense of self and becoming feral. Great Ape's typically can use an Energy Blast from the mouth as a means of ranged attack. Great Ape transformations increase a Saiyans power 10 times. Even so, half blooded Saiyans like Gohan can become a Great Ape, so long as they have a tail. With training or a high enough power level a Saiyan can maintain control of his Great Ape form like Vegeta showed during his battle with Goku on Earth.

Users - All full blooded Saiyans and Gohan

Golden Great Ape - A Saiyan who has already become a Super Saiyan(see below) can become this golden variant of the Great Ape with enough access to a full moon. This form is much more powerful than a regular Great Ape and is comparable to a Great Ape going Super Saiyan. This form seems more difficult to control since Vegeta who can control his Great Ape form, failed to control and went feral when he change into this one.

Super Saiyan - A form only achievable when a Saiyan of significant power experiences a fit of extreme rage and has a direct need to take this transformation. Super Saiyans have little physical change except for the blue eyes, blond hair, and yellow aura but the strength difference is enormous. Super Saiyans after transformed go through a personality change as well. Goku who normally enjoys fights with strong opponents even if they are evil becomes and avenging warrior hell bent on his enemies defeat. Vegeta when he first transformed became even more arrogant and prideful than before. With a desire to test his strength against strong adversaries.

Super Saiyan 2 - A Super Saiyan that has gone beyond, Super Saiyan 2's are incredibly powerful and have pushed the limits of their potential. Gohan was the first person to achieve this form. In this state the hair becomes spikier and the yellow aura gains an electrical effect. Super Saiyan 2 is believed to have double the power of the previous transformation.

Super Saiyan 3 - This form is achievable only through extreme training and the final form in the manga, Super Saiyan 3 has some noticeable differences from the previous forms. While the electric aura and spike blonde hair remain, the hairs length increases to be about waist to knee length. The form increases the power output of the Saiyan to unbelievably high levels however the side effects to this form is the stamina drain which is considerably high and the form has later been surpassed by Super Saiyan God and even variations of the SSJ2 transformation which indicates that the Super Saiyan 3 form is no more.

Super Saiyan 4 - An anime only transformation. The form is radically different from any previous transformation. Super Saiyan 4's gain Red colored fur over most of their body and their hair length become longer, but is more akin to their standard hair and they keep their natural dark color. The Saiyan in question keeps their electric yellow aura. This form seems to be a mix of the Great Ape transformation and the Super Saiyan aura. This is the pinnacle of Saiyan evolution. The form greatly surpasses SSJ3 in all aspects and it uses significantly less stamina than that of SSJ3.

Super Saiyan God - Is a Saiyan Transformation that requires a certain ritual involving 6 Saiyans. 5 Saiyans hold hands and the Saiyan becoming a Super Saiyan God will be empowered amd therefore, successfully attain the form. The form completely separates from the standard Super Saiyan chronology(Super Saiyan, 2 and 3). The transformation gives the user an incredible amount of power that makes the Super Saiyan 3 nigh useless in comparison however the form does use an excessive amount of stamina and energy. In appearance, it turns the user's hair and eyes bright red with the eyes becoming more detailed and the hair identical to Goku's normal base form except for the color which means that the form is the base form of the Super Saiyan God chronology. The aura is also fiery red.

Super Saiyan Blue - Is the Super Saiyan version of Super Saiyan that turns the user's hair and eyes blue in the same fashion as a normal Super Saiyan as well as the aura. The form gives the user an even greater amount of power and the stamina drain is lesser than Super Saiyan God.

Different Levels of Super Saiyan

In Dragon Ball Z, the possibility of a power greater than that of a Super Saiyan is first theorized in the episode " Laboratory Basement", when Krillin and Future Trunks contemplate how Vegeta plans on retaining his dominance in power among the Z Fighters. The first of these new heights in power is the Ascended Super Saiyan stage obtained by Vegeta, Future Trunks and later, Goku. This technique (as well as the Ultra Super Saiyan technique that follows) is essentially a method of enhancing the abilities of a Super Saiyan, rather than a complete departure from it in favor of newer and more unique power. It is not until the Cell Games that this uncharted level of power makes its debut, in the form of Super Saiyan 2. Saiyan characters continue pushing their limits during the series, ultimately discovering a third, and in anime incarnations, fourth level of Super Saiyan. Two exclusive Super Saiyan stages are also featured in the Dragon Ball films. There are nine variations of the Super Saiyan in all. The following is a summarized list of the premature and advanced levels of the Super Saiyan transformation.

• False Super Saiyan, a pseudo-Super Saiyan form resembling a glorified Kaio-ken, with a yellowish surge of aura. Appeared in Lord Slug.
• Ascended Super Saiyan, an advancement in the power of the original Super Saiyan state.
• Ultra Super Saiyan, an even stronger advancement in the power of the original Super Saiyan state.
• Full-Power Super Saiyan, the state of mental and physical perfection of the Super Saiyan transformation itself, rather than an advanced stage.
• Super Saiyan 2, the second Super Saiyan transformation. Known as Super-Saiyan graded 5, note its not called Super Saiyan 2 in the official sources.
• Legendary Super Saiyan, a level of Super Saiyan which magnifies its user's strength capacity, without drawbacks. Only one Saiyan capable of assuming the transformation is said to be born every thousand years. Appeared in Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan.
• Super Saiyan 3, the third (and final in the manga) Super Saiyan transformation.
• Super Saiyan 4, the last, quintessential Super Saiyan transformation. Appeared in Dragon Ball GT.

Dragonball Z

False Super Saiyan(FSSJ)

In this form, Goku's irises and pupils are no longer visible, mostly in turn to the power and bleak rage. His body bulks up a little, his hair straightens like that of a Super Saiyan, his skin color also appears to have a yellow hue to it, but there is no considerable change in feature other than a red tint to his hair. He gains a yellowish surge of aura, somewhat but not quite resembling that of a normal Super Saiyan's. In turn, the form somewhat resembles a glorified Kaio-ken form, but there are notable differences.

When he transformed into the true Super Saiyan transformation during the fight against Frieza, Goku witnessed the murder of Krillin (as well as the fact that Krillin isn't likely to be revived with the Dragon Balls, as Shenron had already granted that wish and could not resurrect the same person twice), something that drove him over the edge. This ultimate pain was not fully present during the fight against Slug, which is most likely why Goku did not transform fully. The form of False Super Saiyan was shown to be very erratic, lasting for only as long as the aura is ignited, and using up much more energy to sustain than the full Super Saiyan.

Super Saiyan (SSJ)

This is the first stage of the legendary Super Saiyan. Not every one is able to reach this level. The original Super Saiyans are unknown and after millenia, it became a legend. Every Saiyan warrior trained to one day become a Super Saiyan, although none knew how to achieve it.

Goku was the first to become a Super Saiyan in the Freiza saga. When Freiza killed Krillin, then Goku got out of control and reached this level. Goku was the first to reach this level in over a thousand years. Technically, the next Super Saiyan was Trunks, but he attended the level in the future of an alternate timeline. The next Saiyan to reach this level was Vegeta, who had believed the transformation was his royal birthright.

The next Super Saiyan was Gohan, who was the youngest at the time to achieve the transformation at the age of 11.

Goten and Trunks were also to transform at an even younger age.

Appearance

The user's hair becomes blond and the eyes become blond. The aura is golden/yellow.

Power

The Saiyan's power is multiplied by 50. When Goku fought Frieza, Goku was slightly stronger than Frieza and when Vegito transformed into a SSJ, he gained enough power to overwhelm Buuhan with ease. The Super Saiyan form can also be mastered and the term for this is Mastered Super Saiyan or Full Power Super Saiyan.

Ascended Super Saiyan and Ultra Super Saiyan(ASSJ and USSJ)

There are 2 types of Ascended Super Saiyan. The first was originally discovered by Vegeta and Trunks while in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where power was increased exponentially, but it took from their speed. Goku managed to perfect this transformation, but with more speed and less power than the original. Both Vegeta and Goku knew that this transformation was simply a slight power-up and not the next plateau. Goku, Future Trunks and Vegeta are the only known users of the form.

Appearance (Ascended Super Saiyan)

Not much change happens in the transformation other than, In Vegeta's case, the hair becoming sharper and the muscles enlarging.

Power (Ascended Super Saiyan)

The form gives the user greater power than the standard Super Saiyan form however the speed doesn't remain equal.

Appearance (Ultra Super Saiyan)

The most notable change in appearance when a Saiyan enters this form, is the abnormally large muscles and the body becomes bigger. The other change in form is the hair which becomes much more sharper as seen with Future Trunks.

Power (Ultra Super Saiyan)

The Ultra Super Saiyan Transformation is the result when a Saiyan focuses more on brute strength than speed. The transformation gives the user a massive increase in strength but the side effect is that speed is tremendously decreased as well. Another side effect is the power usage which is highly stressful.

Super Saiyan 2(SSJ2)

This stage is more powerful then Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan 2 is stronger in speed and strength then all previous tranformations. Gohan was the first to achieve this level, shortly after first achieving Super Saiyan. When he was fighting against Perfect Cell he got out of control but soon realized how to use the power properly. Lightning forms around your body. You don’t lose speed. Everything increases. Goku and Vegeta also attained this level at some point. It is later revealed in Super that four other Saiyans achieved the form(Future Trunks, Cabba, Caulifla and Kefla)

Appearance

The form makes the hair of the Saiyan become sharper as Gohan's hair lifts upwardly and he has a single lock and Goku's hair becomes more pronounced. The form also has electricity surrounding the user.

Power

The user gains an high amount of power and the form doubles the power of Super Saiyan. The Super Saiyan 2 form can also be enhanced and upgraded through training to create an even powerful boost that surpasses that of normal Super Saiyan 3. The name for this upgrade is called Strengthened Super Saiyan 2 and it is achieved by Vegeta through rage over seeing his beloved wife slapped by Beerus. It is later achieved by Future Trunks, Goku, Caulifla and Kefla. Another powerful upgrade of the form is Super Saiyan Rage which is achieved by Trunks.

Super Saiyan 3 (SSJ3)

Super Saiyan 3 is very powerful stage but cannot be maintained for a long time. Your eyebrows disappear. Your hair falls down past your knees and muscles are buffed. First time achieved by Goku. No one else achieved it besides Trunks and Goten when they fused together as Gotenks. Just staying in this form drains your energy until eventually the power leaves the Saiyan and makes them exhausted. This level was described by Goku as only being suitable for Other World.

Appearance

The most noticeable appearance is the hair which is abnormally long. The eyebrows vanish and the eyes become more detailed. The electricity still remains in this form

Power

The form gives the user an bigger amount of power as it multiplies the power of the SSJ2 by 4. The form can also be powered to full power to make it more powerful.

Super Saiyan God (SSJG)

A Super Saiyan transformation that surpass Super Saiyan 3. First achieved by Goku to battle Bills in the move Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Appearance

Not much of a difference from a Saiyan based form except for the following changes:

• The hair being pushed slightly up with a purple-red highlight
• Eyes are more sharper with slightly large retinas and reddish-purple in color.
• Body built becomes thinner.
• His aura becomes more flame like and explosive in appearance.

Powers and Limitations

Achieved by combining the powers of six pure-hearted Saiyans, this form allows Goku to fight the God of Destruction Bills where his Super Saiyan 3 form failed miserably. Aside from the massive overall stat boost, Super Saiyan God form allowed Goku to sense Godly Ki and absorb attacks by consuming Ki.

One drawback to this form is its massive Ki consumption, only allowing the user to use it in proportion to his Ki reserve similar to Super Saiyan 3.

Super Saiyan Blue/Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan(SSB/SSGSS)

Is the Super Saiyan version of Super Saiyan God, first achieved by Goku through training.

Appearance

The appearance resembles Super Saiyan in appearance except that the hair and eyes become bright blue and the aura is blue.

Power

The form gives the user an extraordinary amount of power and since it is the Super Saiyan version of the form, it multiplies the Super Saiyan God form by 50. The Super Saiyan Blue form power can be increased through the use of Kaioken and can be mastered. It can also be enhanced by anger and fury.

Berserker Super Saiyan(BSSJ)

Is a Saiyan transformation exclusive to Kale that is very similar to the Legendary Super Saiyan Form in a lot of aspects.

Appearance

The form resembles Legendary Super Saiyan as the eyes are completely white and the body and muscles become much bigger. The aura is also green.

Power

The form provides the Kale with multitudes of power and the form, like LSSJ, retains the speed and gives Kale a seemingly endless surge of power.

Super Saiyan Rose(SSR)

Is a Saiyan Transformation and it is Goku Black's version of the Super Saiyan Blue.

Appearance:

• Black's hair lifts upwardly and turns pink. The eyes turn light gray or pink.
• The aura becomes purple and the glow becomes dark coloured

Power

The Super Saiyan Rose power is equal to Super Saiyan Blue except that the form provides more precise and efficient ki control which allows Black to create various weapons of energy at will. Goku Black is able to master the form and eliminate any drawbacks which allows him to use the form as much as he wants.

Non-Canon

Super Saiyan 4 (SSJ4)

This is the final form of the Super Saiyan. You can only see this form in Dragonball GT. Super Saiyan 4 can only be achieved by Goku and Vegeta. The only way to become a Super Saiyan 4 is to become a golden Oozaru. Goku become a Super Saiyan 4 by his power and the training he does. But Vegeta used something called the brute waves that Bulma made. That helped him become a Super Saiyan 4. You hair color goes back to normal. A red fur coat grows across your chest. But Gogeta had brown fur and red hair. All of your stats increase and you can maintain that form for a long time. This is all that happens when a Saiyan regains control of the Golden Oozaru form and becomes calm.

Appearance

The user has fur around their chest and tail. The hair also becomes wild and longer.

Power and Limitations

The user becomes extremely powerful in this form as it gives a very high boost in power. The form also gives the user a greater ki control and the user can stay in the form for a long time.

Restricted Super Saiyan (RSSJ)

A Super Saiyan transformation unique to Broly. The term restricted came from the limiting device placed on Broly's head by his father Paragus, not allowing Broly to transform into a Super Saiyan.

Appearance

Since this Super Saiyan form is being restricted by an external factor some noticeable difference are present, this are:

• Restricted Super Saiyan Form's hair is bluish, on the transition of being yellow but blocked.
• Eyes are bluish green.
• Body built are the same as a Super Saiyan
• His aura is almost the same as a Super Saiyan.

Powers and Limitations

Similar to a False Super Saiyan, a Restricted Super Saiyan has the power level in between a Saiyan's Base Form and a Super Saiyan. But Broly being the Legendary Super Saiyan (Most people call this a mutation.) have overpowered Vegeta in Super Saiyan Form.

No known drawback, as Broly can overpower a fully transformed Super Saiyan with only this form.

Legendary Super Saiyan(LSSJ)

Legendary Super Saiyan is a Saiyan born once every thousand years and is usually either hailed a savior or a destroyer. The only person shown as a legendary Super Saiyan was Broly, although flashbacks to the original Saiyan home planet hint at an even more powerful Legendary Super Saiyan having lost control and destroying the world, along with himself in the process. A Legendary Super Saiyan is unique from other Saiyan transformations in that the Super Saiyan in question grows to enormous sizes and has hair that glows an electric lime green. The eyes also become white with "blind rage" (although whether this means that the legend in question is blind or appears to be blind can be debated). Also, the strength level grows every second the user is in Legendary Super Saiyan mode, being forced to pulse out waves of energy to keep themselves from erupting.

So far, in the case of Broly, the last of the Legendary Super Saiyans thus discovered, the tails have been docked to prevent him from transforming into a golden great ape. It is unknown if others of his kind had the same procedure done, or if the power levels are diminished slightly as a result of the tail being amputated.

Appearance:

The transformation drastically changes the users appearance:

• The hair becomes more longer and spikier. The hair also becomes slightly greenish-yellowish.
• The eyes become completely white and menancing
• The body becomes much larger and the muscles severely inflate.
• The aura becomes lime green

Powers and Limitations

The Legendary Super Saiyan Transformation's power is lies between Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2. The form is far better than Ultra Super Saiyan as it retains the speed and gives the user more power.

The form has a seemingly endless surge of energy but the side effects are the user's body may burst apart if too much energy is stored inside the body so the user has to release energy through the use of ki blasts.
