Origin
Bill and Ben live inside two flowerpots next to the garden's potting shed, emerging whenever the gardener is away. Their friend is Little Weed, a flower growing between their pots.
Creation
Bill and Ben first appeared in Flower Pot Men, a segment of the BBC's Watch With Mother, a show aimed at very young children. The two puppets were voiced by Peter Hawkins, later to voice the Daleks, Captain Pugwash and Rainbow's Zippy, amongst many others. The characters swiftly transited to comic strips too, appearing in Hulton Press' Robin.
