Written by Robert Weinberg with pencils by Brett Booth and inks by Sal Rega, Extinction Event is a five-issue limited series published by Wildstorm, an imprint of DC Comics, in 2003-2004. While the series' ending leaves the possibility for further stories, no plans have been announced to continue the story. The series has yet to be collected in a trade paperback.
Story
An earthquake in Texas awakens intelligent dinosaurs from a sixty-five million year cryogenic sleep and want to reclaim the Earth from humanity. The dinosaurs possess a telepathic power that overwhelms their prey, though some humans prove to be immune to these abilities. Samantha Gonzalez, owner of the Double Bar Ranch where first contact is made with the dinosaurs, some of her ranch hands, and a small group of investigating military personnel stand between the revived dinosaurs and the extinction of mankind. In the end, though, will humanity prevail?
