This 1988 Martian Manhunter mini-series is the first self-titled series for the character since his debut in 1955. With the Crisis on Infinite Earths retconning everyone's origins, it's J'onn's turn to receive a new backstory. This series highlights a new origin for the Martian people, guest stars the Martian Manhunter's teammates in the Justice League, and features the first appearance of H'ronmeer, the Martian god that would later appear in Sandman. The new origins of the Martians draws heavily from the books of Ray Bradbury, especially The Martian Chronicles.
