Based in New York City in 1934 Nathaniel Dusk is a Private Investigator. Dusk a WWI veteran who joined the New York police force after returning from the war. After seeing all the corruption in the police, Dusk quit the force to become a private eye.

Dusk, continues to do his job, investigating husbands and there extra-curricular activities. Until Joyce (his lover) and her two small children, Jennie and Anthony, are killed. Dusk is determined to solve the murder of Joyce and her children.
