Origin

Charlotte Cutter's past is a mystery, it is unclear how she got her totem Dolly and how she came to be a Black Mask in the House of Cutter in London. What is known is that she a lethal and effective monster hunter. Her methods have become under question by those in House Cutter and they need a way to get rid of the Black Mask without losing face.

When House Slaughter had a problem with a rogue agent, House Cutter saw an opportunity. If Cutter was successful in killing Erica Slaughter, then House Slaughter would owe House Cutter the credit, if not then House Slaughter would owe House Cutter for costing them their best Black Mask.

Creation

Cutter first appears in Something is Killing the Children #22 by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera.

After Erica Slaughter went rogue after the events in Archer's Peak, The Old Dragon called the London chapter house, House of Cutter, to ask for assistance with eliminating Erica. Cutter was chosen as the house's best black mask. She did her research, believing that someone was on the inside was helping Erica find leads on new monsters to hunt. She determined it was Big Gary at the Farm. After torturing him for information, he got Erica's location in Tribulation, New Mexico on the hunt for a duplicitype monster. Cutter then called her to gloat while killing Gary

Once Cutter makes it into town, she reached out to Carter Thomas, the local sheriff, pretending to be Interpol and blaming the work of the duplicitype on Erica. With the sheriffs' men looking for Erica, Cutter was free to hunt the duplicitype. She lures it into a mirror trap that would force it to transform into what it fears most: Erica. In the meantime, Cutter couldn't help her baser urges. She killed most of the sheriff staff and framed Erica. In retaliation, Erica stole her totem, Dolly.

Without Dolly, Cutter began to lose her composure and started to lose the trust of Sheriff Carter. Donning her bandana and leaning on a sheriff's deputy that trusted Erica for her location, Cutter sneaks into the East Creek Corral to kidnap the normal folks Erica has been trying to protect, while Erica was distracted by the duplicitype. This forces Erica to turn her poison arrows on Cutter. Cutter manages to snag one out of the air and stab Gabi with it, causing her immense pain and eventually death.

In a fit of anger, Erica lashes out at her while the duplicitype slowly walks towards them. Cutter gets the upper hand and carves the gold nail out of Erica's head that allows her to see monsters after the age of 18. Cutter laughs at the idea of forcing Erica to watch Gabi and Riqui be torn apart by an invisible force, but Cutter will never witness it. Erica grabs a nearby shovel and beats Cutter to death with it.

Powers and Abilities

Monster Hunter: Erica is a well-trained monster hunter. She is able to track and has keen deductive reasoning. She is handy with most bladed weapons and whips and is an Olympic-level athlete.

Rite of Trepanation: Cutter has undergone a ritual that allows her to continue seeing monsters beyond her 18th birthday.
