Mr. X-Ray
Marketing exec that sold children's novelties
- Gadgets
Origin
Frederick Xavier Ray was a young copywriter working for a Madison Avenue ad agency when he was caught embezzling along with an art direction named Jim Smith. The two were fired from their jobs, starting a domino effect ruining both of their lives. Eventually, they opened a company that sold children's novelty items like X-Ray Specs and Piranha People (knock-off sea monkeys). One day, Ray's estranged daughter Judy arrived at his office. She told her dad that her mother passed away and left her in the care of her drunk uncle. Ray rejected her pleas to take her in, forcing her to run crying from his office. When he chased after her, he found that his office building no longer exited to Madison Avenue but to a new street called Hyde Street. Mr. X-Ray was now stuck on this street at the whim of the Scorekeeper, owing 10,000 souls.

Major Story Arc
Pranky Feud
X-Ray was artful in his ability to damn people passing through Hyde Street. It took time and required a total lack of regret. This gave Pranky the Boy Scout the chance to swoop in and steal his deliveries to the Scorekeeper. It kept him stuck at around 2100 deliveries when he was desperate to earn his 10 thousand and leave. He demanded Pranky follow the unwritten rules of "dibs," but Pranky saw Scorekeeper awarding him credit for the deliveries as permission. So, that next Christmas, Scorekeeper got involved and told Pranky to play nice with the other residents. Pranky still confused.
X-Ray finally saw an opportunity when Pranky came to his door appearing like a wolfboy. He had stolen a rubber werewolf mask from X-ray's office to hunt The Matinee Monster, another resident Pranky was feuding with. The mask transformed him into a werewolf and now couldn't be removed. X-Ray promised to help him get it off if Pranky finally agreed not to interrupt his deliveries. Unfortunately, X-Ray couldn't take it off either. They sought the help of Doctor Ego, who couldn't remove since Pranky had actually transform, so he snagged X-ray's x-ray specs to attempt to disconnect the mask emotionally.
According to Ego, they had to wait for whatever vision the x-ray specs were giving Pranky to make him feel less like a monster. Once he did, the Wolfman mask should release on its own. When it finally did, Pranky violently escaped from Ego's office.
