Reece is actually a western pygmy marmoset. Frederick Xavier Ray, a failed Madison Avenue ad man turned novelty salesman, bought Reece when he jumped on a 1960s trend of selling small exotic animals on the back of comic books. Reece was the first of many animals he intended to sell, but Reece attacked X-Ray when he opened the small wooden crate. While trying to get away from X-Ray, Reece jumped out of the window and fell to his death. He was reanimated on Hyde Street.
