The Matinee Monster
A resident of Hyde Street, put to work collecting souls for the Scorekeeper
- Postcognition
- Super Strength
Origin
At 22 years old, Oscar Oddman left Iowa for Hollywood, chasing his dream of being in showbusiness. His big break came when he was hired to play the monster in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein's Monster. His insecurities would get the best of him when he mistook a stand-in for a replacement. Their confrontation led to a large light coming loose and crushing the stand-in. After production was shutdown, Oscar's career was dead. Soon after, he woke up on Hyde Street and was made into a resident. However, he refused to play the Scorekeeper's game. He has never delivered a single soul. As punishment, the Scorekeeper hammered nails into his eyes and ripped out his tongue. This failed to persuade Oscar into playing. Instead, he would occasionally foil other residents' attempts to deliver souls.
Creation
The Matinee Monster first appeared in a "Hyde Street" preview in Ghost Machine #1 by Geoff Johns and Iva Reis.
