The Butcher of Hyde Street
The most dangerous resident of Hyde Street
Origin
Before arriving on Hyde Street, The Butcher was the subject of one of the largest manhunts in American history. In 1906, he wandered on to Hyde Street where the Scorekeeper offered him residency. He delivered three souls and then rebelled. As punishment, the Scorekeeper locked him up in the "Last Pen" stockyard where he was tortured for thirteen years. When he returned, he started killing the other residents. Then, in 1953, four residents allied. They were Sister Hood, Matinee Monster, The Demon Within, and Nanny Nursery. Using a special door gifted to them from the Scorekeeper, made of wood from the Ark, only capable of being opened from the outside, the four residents locked The Butcher behind it in Matinee Monster's castle.
Creation
The Butcher of Hyde Street spoke off panel from behind a door for the first time in Hyde Street #4 by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. He is revealed for the first time in Hyde Street #11.
Major Story Arc
Escape
When a mysterious force attempted to break into Hyde Street, the magic of Butcher's prison weakened. He was able to psychically connect to Pranky and convince him that he could reunite Pranky with his dead mother. Pranky sneaked into the Matinee Monster's castle, where Butcher's prison was, and released him. Butcher immediately betrayed him, stabbing him in the chest and splitting his head in two. He then made his way on to the street to hunt more residents.
