Origin

No Caption Provided

Aaron Fischer was a young gay teen from an abusive household. His father beat him for his sexual identity prompting him to run away from home with his boyfriend, Jeremy. His boyfriend didn't stick around, but Aaron continued to ride the rails, making friends with other unhoused individuals. Inspired by the multiple Captain Americas over his lifetime, Aaron looked into a streak of missing unhoused, when he ended up captured like the rest of them. Roxxon had thrown them all in a work camp. Aaron fashioned himself a makeshift shield and fought to free the whole camp. Once accomplished, he continued to ride the rails helping anyone he could.

Creation

Aaron debuted in The United States of Captain America #1 by writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Dale Eaglesham. It also featured a back up story from Aaron's point of view from writer Josh Trujillo and artist Jan Bazalda.

Notes from Captain America

Sam Wilson

This kid's hard to track down - he stays on the movie, going wherever he's needed most, and doesn't leave much of a trail. Hopefully that'll keep him safe from whoever's looking for him.

Steve Rogers

He looks like he'd blow away in a strong breeze, but he's a scrapper. Took that gunshot like a champ. Just hope he's not in over his head

Major Story Arc

The United States of Captain America

Meeting Cap and Falcon
Meeting Cap and Falcon

After Captain America (Rogers) had his shield stolen by a stranger in a Captain America costume with super speed, Cap and Falcon tracked him to a train track bridge. The imposter Cap used Cap's shield to derail the train. While Cap was helping people escape the wreck, he saw Aaron and mistook him for the stranger. Aaron was just trying to help and let Cap know about the Network of Captain Americas, do-gooders from across the country inspired by Cap.

A second female stranger tried to kill Aaron, but Cap was able to tackle him out of the way of her sniper rifle. He got hit in the arm, but after he was patched up, he disappeared before the authorities could ask him anything.

However, he would remain in contact with Cap and his friends through the network. When their investigation led them to NORAD facility where the Hate-Monger was kept, Aaron was more than willing to show up to help. In fact, he was one of the few network members to answer the first distress call. It was a trap, unfortunately, with the Commander Krieger attempting to mesmerize Cap and the others. Thankfully, the rest of the network showed up just in time to save them.

The Invader

When Captain America found himself lost in the middle of America with no memories of how he got there, he reached out to Aaron to help him and the friends he was working with reunite using the railways off the grid. Once together, Aaron watched as Cap called in a favor from Emma Frost, who revealed they were all kidnapped and had their minds wiped by MODOC, a person of interest related to Cap's investigation into the Outer Circle.

Going Home

New Powers
New Powers

At the opening of a LGBTQ+ friendly homeless shelter in memory of Roger Aubrey, Aaron received a text message from his ex-boyfriend. Glen, a surrogate father of Aaron, had been found dead, presumably murdered. He returned to his hometown to avenger Glen, but he his hometown was not the hateful and homophobic place that he had left. Jeremy had pushed to make it a more accepting place, and Roxxon's new processing plant has revitalized the town economically. Aaron remained suspicious of the changes.

Aaron investigates those still struggling in the new idyllic town. He finds out that there are regular tornado warnings for tornadoes that never occur. Roxxon seems to be using it as a way to corral members of the community, some of whom are getting sick and some of whom are going missing. This all lines up with an announcement of a new Roxxon development: a super solider serum costing a billion dollars a dose. To get his hands on the information, Aaron breaks into the plant with a stolen key card so he can download the data to a thumb drive.

Unfortunately, he was caught by one of the few successful super soldier subjects. He overwhelmed Aaron and threw him into an experiment, believing Aaron wasn't strong enough to survive. Instead, Aaron gained new abilities that allowed him to escape. He brought the data drive back to Cap and Sam at the Roger Aubrey Center, where he also decided to volunteer to mentor homeless queer youth after seeing the good Jeremy was doing back in Hastings.

Avengers Academy

Avengers Academy
Avengers Academy

Aaron was busted by Agent Gao when she was raiding a homeless encampment for sheltering on Hexus property. In case anyone had superpowers, she brought along Taskmaster of her Cape-Killers, who Aaron wasn't strong enough to take. Carol Danvers came to visit him in prison with a recruitment offer for the revitalized Avengers Academy, but he did not take it too seriously. Early into their first semester together, they were attacked by Swarm. It took the combined powers of the entire class to defeat Swarm, revealing his employer, Hexus, might have an interest in the new school.

After some time together, they were forced into action, despite Danvers' instructions not to, when Stanley Osborn, brother of fellow student, Red Goblin, was kidnapped by a new Sinister Six. Among the Sinister Six was Mysteriant, a lover of Aaron's who took after his mother's cousin, Mysterio. Despite his flirtations with classmate Kid Juggernaut, Aaron sought out Mysteriant, who agreed to help the team get Stanley back.

Mysteriant would make good on being their inside man. He even went as far as to use his illusions to trick his leader, Squid Kid, into thinking he stumbled upon his betrayal. When the Sinister Six ambushed the cadets, it was a trap to keep the villains distracted while the students free both Stanley and the sensitive business data of the likes or Roxxon and Hexus that Squid Kid had been holding for ransom. Although, rather than return it, Mysteriant had it dumped on the internet for the public to see.

Serpent in the Garden

As an Emplate familiar
As an Emplate familiar

Because the new academy existed across dimensions, it got the attention of Emplate, a vampiric mutant who also existed across dimensions. He took special interest in Escapade, the lone mutant cadet. He planned to use Escapade's powers to make moving through dimensions less painful.

Once he had them, he snuck into the men's locker room where he found Aaron. Aaron was fed on and then turned into a familiar, along with any of the classmates who weren't part of the rescue mission into Emplate's lair.

When Kid Juggernaut returns from the rescue mission, Aaron corners him in the locker room and attempts to feed on him. Before either of them had to fight each other, Shela reached her full potential, stacking her switches for the first time. She managed to dilute Emplate's infection across her friends, curing them, while taking enough of each of their powers to overwhelm and banish Emplate from this dimension.

Arnie Roth Community Center

Aaron's New Suit
Aaron's New Suit

When Aaron wasn't attending class, he was working at the Arnie Roth Community Center for the LGBTQ+ community, named for Captain America's childhood friend. Under the guise of a traditional values social media influencer, Sin, daughter of the Red Skull, convinced a number of homophobes to protest the community center. Some of the pushier protestors broke through the front door with a gun and explosives. Thankfully, Aaron's force field stood up physically against them, but it didn't protect his hearing.

Dazed, he was soon joined by Kid Juggernaut. He asked Justin to help evacuate people, while he put on his new costume made by the Wasp. He hadn't felt worthy of his Captain America inspired new suit, so he had been reluctant to put it on until now. He believed people needed to see a "Captain America." He would find Sin on the roof attacking Mysteriant, who had been giving an HIV talk earlier that day.

Aaron would fight Sin, but she was better trained them him. He was able to knock a detonator out of her hand and delay a larger attack. Thankfully, Qaari snuck away and put his tech expertise to good use disarming the bomb. When the duo were joined by Kid Juggernaut on the roof, Sin made her escape by helicopter.

Lost in Time

As revenge for failing to enchant Kid Juggernaut, Enchantress curses the Avengers cadet to speak their hearts’ truths, leading to some awkward conversations. Jara, the lost valkyrie who runs the ice cream shop across the street from campus and has grown to like the students, uses a magic trinket of her own to undo the curse. However, these magical spells weaken the M’Kraan crystal that holds the campus in a superposition across time and space. Kid Immortus needed to send the cadets into time to correct incursions. Aaron and Justin found themselves in WWII working for a platoon led by Arnie Roth.

Among the platoon was Jin Taiko, Justin's grandfather They were taken captive by the Japanese Hydra Supreme and forced to mine for the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak so that Hydra could finish the Satan Claw. With Aaron and Justin's help, they managed to smuggle dynamite so they could blow a dam, but Taiko was injured. The platoon brought him to a temple to Cyttorak where he became the Juggernaut to save his life. This corrected Taiko's timeline allowing Kid Immortus (campus chaplain) to reach Aaron and Justin and rescue them.

One World Under Doom

When Doctor Doom usurped the title of Sorcerer Supreme, he used it to install himself as world emperor. A Hydra splinter group, led by Sin (still using her Cherry Crane alias) used the confusion to hide their new illegal activities as they rounded up seditious residents of America including Jara and Marcus. The cadets locate Marcus on a maglev train Hydra was using to travel the country. As resident heist-master, Shela made a plan for them to board the train.

Blackheart opened portals to campus that the cadets could lead prisoners through, but his magic finally got the attention of Doom. He disliked the interdimensional magic of his mother’s torturer on Earth. He sent a fleet of doombots to take out Blackheart, who needed to be defended by the cadets. Meanwhile, Shela and Justin went to rescue Marcus from Sin and her enforcer, Maphegor, an apostle of Cyttorak. Shela tricked Sin into pushing her off the train so Shela could switch places with her midair, and Malphegor made his escape after Justin broke his crimson staff.

After Justin stopped the train, the cadets were finally confronted by Doom himself. They were completely overwhelmed, but Shela had an idea. She tried to attack Doom, who grabbed her and readied to attack. Shela then switched back with Sin, who took the brunt of Doom’s energy blast. Just as disgusted with Hydra, Doom burned the skin off Sin’s face yet again. Satisfied with whatever success he accomplished, Doom decided to leave Blackheart to his new prison of humanity.
