Major Story Arcs

Powers Act

Jade was a customer in a bank that was attacked by a group of armed robbers in tactical gear. She attempted to use her wind powers to stop them, but eventually, Scorpion entered the bank as a deputized criminal of Agent Gao. After he pacified the robbers, Gao's men also arrested Jade for using her abilities to stop a crime.

Gang War

When Hammerhead incited a gang war, Agent Gao called in the Cape Killers to keep the peace in Brooklyn. Jade was the newest member of the squad, now going by Gust. Frost Pharaoh and The Bumbler were leading gangs against each other, and they have already gotten the attention of Miles Morales. Because Miles was deputized by the mayor, the Cape Killers couldn't arrest him, so they reluctantly worked with him. After defeating Frost Pharaoh and Bumbler, they turned to the Enforcers and their new leader, The Prowler, who were all upgraded with mysterious new tech.

The Prowler had led the Enforcers into a trap, hoping that Miles and his allies would be able to stop them. He then recruited them all to help him take down Hobgoblin, who was trafficking Beyond Corporation tech to the street gangs of Brooklyn. Gust would sneak into Hobgoblin' lab with Miles and Kamala, while the others take on the goons securing the building. Unfortunately, Hobgoblin hired Rabble to upgrade his tech. They were nearly overwhelmed, but Scorpion managed to convince the goons outside to join the Cape Killers.

In the ensuing fight, Hobgoblin's cache of explosives is triggered causing a massive explosion. Hobgoblin is assumed dead, and with Brooklyn safe again, Agent Gao reminds Miles that his truce with the Cape Killers is over.

Retribution

Capes vs Cape-Killers
Capes vs Cape-Killers

In the wake of the gang war, the anti-vigilant law is repealed, effectively ending the Cape-Killers. While the wheels of bureaucracy spin, Gao gets the most out of her Cape Killers while she can. After a successful mission against a power stealer named Snatcher, Gao breaks the news to the Cape Killers that the program is being shut down and they might not get credit toward their sentence for their service. She promises to commute their sentence if they help her with a final mission: take down Spider-Man (Miles Morales).

Gao enters a reluctant deal with Rabble, allowing her to upgrade herself, Gust, and the others. This armor should give them an edge over Spider-Man, who has managed to best them every time. Unfortunately, this armor also allows Gao to remote control the Cape Killers. When they still couldn't take out Miles, Gao took control of them and pushed them further then they could stand. Gust pleaded for Miles to save her from the armor. Miles gets some last minute help from his friends, including Rhino and his uncle, Prowler. They keep the Cape Killers busy while he goes after Rabble so he can free them from Rabble's control.

Gust proved most formidable when her armor forced her air aerokinesis to pull the breathable air from the heroes. Thankfully, Miles shut down Rabble's control over the Cape Killers in the nick of time.

God War

Shift was experiencing his first day of school as himself at Eastside Academy of Arts. There, he made friends with former Cape Killer, Gust. While talking, the two of them were suddenly teleported to Miles' side on the ruins of Mount Olympus. They had been chosen as champions of Anansi, like Miles was, in order to compete in a challenge given to Anansi by Ares. Ares was unhappy that Anansi had taken a champion, betraying a pact between their two pantheons. Because Ares got to pick the challengers, Anansi got to pick the challenge. Rather than mutual combat, he assigned them one of Hercules' twelve labors. Miles convinced the champions to work together, ending the challenge in a draw.

This revealed Anansi's secret plan to fight Ares one on one. According to the rules, if the tournament of champions ended in a draw, then Anansi and Ares had to fight as a tiebreaker. When pressed by his champions, Anansi shared the story of how their feud began over a mortal dressmaker who was so talented Ares felt she needed to be humbled. This brought criticisms of pettiness from Miles, which Ares grew tired of entertaining. As the last surviving Olympian of his generation, he accepted his role as the new Skyfather and moved their tournament to Brooklyn so that Miles had proper stakes.

This was a line to far even for Ares' champions. They refused to fight, so Ares called on the Stymphalian Birds again to do his dirty work. The champions, including Gust, all worked together to save Brooklyn from the monster birds, while Miles, Anansi, and Ares' champioon, Zip Zephyr, took on Ares, eventually defeating him. With Anansi as the official winner, he magically transformed Brooklyn back as it was, including returning Gust to her school with her civilian clothes.

Helping Hightail

While hanging out with Miles and Shift, they are interrupted by Hightail, who just stole medicine off a truck. She would team up with the spider brothers to stop her. Hightail admitted she was actually taking price-gouged medicine for the needy. Gust exhibited a new ability when she used her wind to supercool the broken medicine container. She credited this new power from her interaction with the gods, specifically Zip Zephyr, who may be her father. Gust and Shift keep the security forces busy while Miles and Hightail get the medicine to the clinic.

Powers & Abilities

Aerokinesis: Gust has the ability to telekinetically manipulate air as highly directional wind bursts and flight.

  • Temperature Control: She can change the ambient temperature of things by manipulating the air around it.
