Origin

Three and half years ago Eli Hartman was taken from a FEAST house and was made into a test subject for Madame Monstrosity. While there he became friends with fellow test subject Bailey Briggs, and after Briggs was transformed into a spider monster, Eli was there to help him feel better by tell him jokes.

Briggs tried to cheer up Eli with a joke of his own, "What do you get if you cross a Elephant and a Rhino?, Hellifino!". The joke made Eli laugh but Madame Monstrosity didn't find it funny but it gave her an idea for her next experiment.

Madame Monstrosity then transformed Eli into Hellifino, part Eli, part elephant, and part rhino, and sent him out into the world to do her bidding. Because of this he was not there to be saved by Spider-Man when he rescued Briggs.

Major Story Arcs

The Web-less Wonder

While Spider-Boy is excepting his acaladed for stopping Gutterball and saving Lucky Lane's Bowling Alley, Madame Monstrosity sends Hellifino to capture the hero.

Unable to remember their history together, Hellifino attacks Spider-Boy, but Spider-Boy remembers them being friends and pulls his punches. This gives Hellifino the upper-hand and he catches Spider-Boy but before he can unmask him Spider-Boy escapes his grasp.

Spider-Boy then convinces Hellifino that Madame Monstrosity is the true enemy and they were friends before she experimented on them. This gives Hellifino pause and instead of taking Spider-Boy back to Stillwell Farm he lies and says the boy hero escaped.

Fun and Games

When Madame Monstrosity creates Boy-Spider he is able to make contact with Spider-Boy and gains some of his memories, one of these is Spider-Boy telling the hell-if-i-know joke. When seen out of context Hellifino believes he is cause of Eli's torment and hates Spider-Boy even more.

Madame sends Hellifino to collect Spider-Boy and Christina Xu, which this time Hellifino does without question.

Later when Spider-boy, Christina, Tabitha Briggs and Boy-Spider attack Madame Monstrosity's private room, they need to get past Hellifino. Eli, is no match for their numbers and Spider-Boy seeks past.

It was Spider-Boy's objective to get to Jeremy Stillwell and use him to prove that Madame had lied to them about being able to return them to their original forms. When Hellifino learns this fact he joins the good side against Madame, who has now become an animal hybrid as well.

After Madame disappears, Spider-Man and other scientist are able to transform most of the Humanimals back to their original forms but for some reason they can not change Hellifino back to human.
