Mainz
The capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. It was the capital of the Electorate of Mainz at the time of the Holy Roman Empire. In antiquity Mainz was a Roman fort city which commanded the west bank of the Rhine and formed part of the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire.
Malta
Small island country in the middle of the Mediterranean between Sicily and Libya. Has passed between many rulers in its days but is perhaps best known as the home of the Knights Hospitalier (or the Knights of St. John) in the Middle Ages and the home of the British military in the Second World War (often referred to as a stationary aircraft carrier.)
