Paul Cornell
Paul Cornell is a British writer who has worked in television (Doctor Who), novels and comic books (Wisdom, DC, Marvel). He is also a Hugo Award nominee.
Career History
Cornell has not only written a number of television episodes of Doctor Who but is also well known for a number of novels based on the character. He is credited with being the creator of one of the Doctor's spin-off companions, Bernice Summerfield. Besides Doctor Who, Cornell has also written episodes for a number of popular TV shoes including Robin Hood and Primeval.
Cornell has written for Marvel, DC Comics, 2000 AD, Judge Dredd Megazine and has also had two original novels published. His work for Marvel includes:
- Wisdom with artists Trevor Hairsine and Manuel Garcia
- Captain Britain and MI: 13
- Fantastic Four: True Story with artist Horacio Domingues
- Black Widow: Deadly Origin
- Dark Reign: Young Avengers
In 2010 Cornell teamed up with legendary comic creator Stan Lee for Soldier Zero by Boom! Studios. Shortly after Cornell signed a one year exclusivity deal with DC and took over writing Action Comics as well as doing a short stint on Batman and Robin. During DC's New 52 relaunch Cornell became the regular writer on both Stormwatch and Demon Knights.
Current Events
Currently Paul Cornell continues writing Demon Knights for DC and is the author of Saucer Country by Vertigo. In March 2013 Cornell, along with artist and fellow Brit Alan Davis, launched the main Wolverine title of Marvel NOW!
