All at once, the entire male population dies leaving females as the only occupants on the planet. It seems, however, that Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand have somehow escaped this male-killing epidemic. He travels to Washington, D.C. to consult with his mother as to what he should do. He wants to travel to Australia to be with his sort-of-fiance Beth. His mother wants him to find his sister Hero. He teams up with Agent 355 to find Hero in Boston. Along the way he finds that there are factions of women who want to eradicate all traces of men from the Earth, as well as some who truly mourn the loss. In Boston, they don't find Hero but locate a scientist who may be able to clone Yorick.
