Amanda Waller sends out the Suicide Squad to retrieve a cosmic item in a heavily guarded prison beneath the Laptev sea. After an encounter with a small infantry, they free an African Metahuman called Hack who could convert matter into digital information. In the process of retrieving the item, they run into General Zod who was actually a prisoner of the cosmic item which was a portal to the Phantom Zone. He seemed to have been imprisoned for a long time causing him to lose his sanity. During the encounter, Captain Boomerang got incinerated by General Zod. Shortly after the Annihilation Brigade, the prison's guardians, tries to prevent the Suicide Squad from getting the portal by open firing on them. While the rest of the squad's holding back the prison gurdians, Hack downloads every file related to the portal while Rick manages to put General Zod back in the portal.
Hack manages to teleport everyone including the portal back to Belle Reve. Rick expressed the loss of Captain Boomerang on the mission. Amanda Waller replies, "That's why you're the Suicide Squad. Flag".
