Origin

When the vampire cult, The Structure, attempted to take over the world under the leadership of Varnae, two vampire pilots dropped a high tech coffin in New York City that continued, The Captive, a vampire like alien. He was released to go after his original prey, symbiotes. To lure Venom out of hiding, he raised one of its former hosts, Lee Price, from the dead, reanimating parts of the symbiote that were still bonded to Price's cells. Pieces of this reanimated symbiote was collected by The Life Foundation and experimented on by Meridius into a symbiote that spreads and multiplies like a zombie infection.

Creation

The Zombiotes first appeared in Venom War: Venomous #1 by Erica Schultz and Luciano Vecchio

Types

There are two different types of Zombiotes:

• Crawlers: Zombiotes that infect dead bodies and reanimate them
• Swingers: Zombiotes that infect living bodies and enslave them to a violent hive mind

Cure

When Eddie Brock borrowed the Anti-Venom symbiote from Flash Thompson and gave it a King in Black upgrade, he started to use it on the zombiotes psychically through the hive-mind. Meridius sensed this and took possession of Carnage's All-Blood Necro Spear. He infected the hive-mind with Carnage, which overwhelmed the Anti-Venom. Eddie was nearly infected by both when Dylan stabbed him, disconnecting him from the hivemind.

With victory seemingly in arm's reach, Meridius arrived with the All-Blood in hand. Dylan's future self returned from the future with a golden Anti-Carnage symbiote. Dylan took possession of the All-Blood and used it as a key to the hivemind. He was able to cure both the zombiote plague and the Carnage infection.
