Continued directly out of New Mutants Vol. 2 (2003). The series lost the "Academy X" in the title with issue 20. After issue 19, the series was taken over by a different creative team.
The series was however relaunched after the Messiah Complex crossover and was replaced with Young X-Men, coming with a different writer and art-team and starring just a few of the team-members that where in the New X-men series.
