General Arthur Whitlock was a decorated officer in the British Army during its violent colonial campaigns in the 19th century. When he retired from the military, he became a successful author. When he finally wandered onto Hyde Street in 1888, he was possessed by an ancient evil, but that evil was not prepared for the fortitude and determination forged from Whitlock's war campaigns. Instead, Whitlock bent the demon to his will and can summon its power when he needs it.

Major Story Arc
The Butcher of Hyde Street
In 1953, Whitlock was part of an alliance of Hyde Street residents who sought to imprison The Butcher of Hyde Street. The Butcher was a resident who rebelled against the Scorekeeper and started to kill residents. Using a library of magic tomes, Whitlock summoned the Scorekeeper to help them. He gifted them a wooden door made from the Ark that could only be opened from the outside. Whitlock and his allies forced The Butcher into a room in Matinee Monster's castle and then shut the door. Decades later, the Butcher would escape.
