Origin

Due to her sanpaku (three whites) eyes, many people saw Kogoe as someone unfriendly, which in turn caused her to be a loner throughout most of her junior high years, as well as part of her first year at Ohananomitsu High.

Creation

Kogoe was created by Nakamura Rikito (writer) and Yukiko Nozawa (artist), and she first appeared on Weekly Young Jump No. 6-7 from 2026, in the 240th chapter of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You.

The name Mishiro Kogoe (三白小々枝) is a play on two different words. Her surname, Mishiro (三白) is written with the same kanji as sanpaku (三白), which is used to describe her eyes. Meanwhile, her name, Kogoe (小々枝) is an homophone of both kogoeru (凍える) and kogoe (小声); kogoeru is the japanese word for "freeze", in reference to her intolerance to being cold, while kogoe is the japanese word for "whisper", in reference to her soft-spoken nature.

Character Evolution

Appearance

Kogoe always wear thermal clothing over her Ohahanomitsu High school uniform. This thermal clothing is composed of a white knit, a wool cardigan, and a black sweater. Whether it's out of school or at school, she's also seen with a thick parka. Kogoe has dark gray "sanpaku" eyes and long gray hair. After meeting Rentarou she trimmed her bangs to reveal her eyes.

Personality

While at first glance Kogoe looks like someone unfriendly due to her sanpaku eyes, in reality, she's a kind and sociable, yet reserved person. The main reason why she doesn't really talk is due to speaking up causing her to lose body heat, and since she's very sensitive to cold, this can affect her being able to function properly.
